Patina Maldives, Fari Islands
Find out more
Set to debut this spring, this Indian Ocean gem joins the Capella and Ritz-Carlton on the Maldives’ remote Fari Islands archipelago, offering a trio of island sanctuaries for inquisitive solo guests to sample their myriad offerings. Overseen by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan of Studio mk27, the resort’s biophilic villas are built to usher in the serenity of the surrounding terrain, with floor-to-ceiling windows that open up private spaces to the wilderness beyond, while earthy interiors of rattan, linen and stone honour their island setting. Seclusion is at the heart of this sprawling, human-centred resort, where days are best spent swathed in a hammock with an immersive novel, dipping into the clear waters of your private pool, or sipping cocktails at Fari Beach Club, in view of the pristine, palm-fringed coastline.
The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands

Another Fari Islands newcomer, The Ritz-Carlton launches its 100-villa sanctuary in spring 2021. The meticulously designed properties form a spherical shape in the shallows that harmonises with every aspect of the retreat, from the curved lines of the interior architecture to the panoramic doors offering endless ocean views beyond. In keeping with beru – the circle of island life – Kerry Hill Architects ensure the resort exists in harmony with its natural surroundings, minimising its ecological impact through solar panels and advanced glazing that lessens the need for aircon. As a result, each villa exists as a private haven, looking out to turquoise sea and a glistening horizon. There’ll be a kids club and a renowned Ritz-Carlton spa, but it’s hard to imagine wanting to see another soul in what’s sure to be a perfect solo destination in 2021.
