H Hotels: a Greek home away from home
Looking for the ideal spot for rest, relaxation and romance? Or somewhere where all the family are guaranteed an amazing time? Then H Hotels’ three heavenly resorts in Kiotari, Rhodes, are your answer
The dreamy Greek island of Rhodes is said to have been created when Zeus, god of the sky and weather, who divided the Earth between the ancient Greek gods, but mistakenly left out Helios, god of the sun. To make up for his error, Zeus offered Helios the next island to emerge from the sea and, the following day, Rhodes rose from the Aegean. As well as enjoying a brilliant back story, this stunning slice of the Mediterranean basks in 300 days of sunshine a year. Venture to the island’s charming south, where the excellent H Hotels Collection has three luxurious properties, all a short drive from pretty Lindos village and its majestic Acropolis, and all of which have almost every base covered – whatever kind of holiday you’re after. As well as gorgeous beachfront locations and all the trappings of five-star accommodation, they share a passion for hospitality and superb service by the bucket-load.
The R&R factor
Mayia Exclusive Resort & Spa is made for those who want to relax and recharge. The adults-only all-inclusive resort has a high-end spa, incredible culinary options and plenty of pools where you won’t be disturbed by any younger visitors. It goes without saying that the hospitality is impeccable: guests can opt for 24/7 room service and private dining. Chic modern touches abound in the rooms and suites, and are echoed in the furnishings in Oinos, the wine and Champagne bar (which scores ten out of ten for date-night sophistication). For total away-from-it-all vibes, upgrade to a swim-up room or a suite with your own private pool. Foodies are spoilt for choice with 13 dining options including three à la carte restaurants: Thymari, serving Greek classics, Wasabi, offering top-notch Asian-influenced dining, and Al Dente, a sumptuous Italian spot. There’s also the main restaurant, Waterfront, which has heaps of gourmet Mediterranean dishes to enjoy – and a pretty spectacular breakfast buffet, too.
A family favourite
If you’re looking for that sweet spot of somewhere family friendly that’s also luxurious, elegant and all-inclusive, along with being just steps from a private stretch of beach (opening image) where you can splash in the bath-warm waters without the crowds, Princess Andriana Resort & Spa is it. The kids’ club includes an animation team for guaranteed giggles, while the children’s pool means that parents might actually be able to finish that book if they station themselves at one of the two other adult pools. Older kids won’t be bored with a plethora of water sports, two tennis courts, beach volleyball, mini-golf and evening shows in the amphitheatre. There’s also a fitness centre with a range of cardio equipment and weights. Then, for after all that exertion, there’s the Euphoria Spa with its whirlpool, hammam, indoor pool and luxe treatments. And if further proof is needed of Princess Andriana Resort & Spa’s family-friendly credentials, check out the family rooms, which have sliding doors to separate the sofa bed for extra privacy.
Completing the heavenly H Hotels trio is Boutique 5 Hotel & Spa, an adults-only resort with just 44 rooms and suites, which encapsulates the word honeymoon. Naturally, all the hallmarks of the H Hotels Collection are present and correct, including stylish suites, access to a private beach with inviting aquamarine waters – and a sea view. There’s high-end Bliss Spa with its indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and hammam – ideal for an afternoon of pampering with your loved one. Sun yourself at the main pool overlooking the beach, or venture down and choose a cabana for two. Stay for a sunset margarita at the poolside bar, Sketch, which turns into a Champagne and cocktail bar when evening rolls around. Later, it’s time for a romantic dinner under the stars at Impressions, where Greek gastronomy with a twist rules. Upgrade to the honeymoon package and you’ll get Champagne, chocolate and fruit on arrival, a candlelit dinner created by the in-house chef and a 30-minute massage for two at the spa, among many other treats.
