The BA Community Fund supports art and gardens projects, new snacks and sandwiches come on board, plus win flights and a sensational goodie bag


On-board food and beverage gets a new look 

Customers flying this summer can look forward to a range of new food and beverage options on board thanks to refreshed menus and new additions to Speedbird Café. Some products have been chosen with sustainability in mind, as suppliers aim to contribute to a cleaner future. Examples include Scrapples – 100 per cent whole fruit crisps with no added sugar, salt or fat – while Toast’s Session IPAs aim to eliminate food waste by using surplus fresh bread and donating all profits to charities helping to fix the food system. Youngsters will love the Dinosaurs ToyChoc Box, which comes with two organic, dairy-free chocolates, a 3D puzzle, a stencil and a fun facts card. Cocktails and snack boxes round off the new on-board options. These new products will be available in flight (via the Speedbird Café on board) and for pre-purchasing at highlifeshop.com.

Tom Kerridge switches up the pre-purchase sandwiches

Welcome on board to the Mediterranean chickpea flatbread and the mature Cheddar ploughman’s. Acclaimed culinary creative Tom Kerridge has curated his latest pre-purchase menu revamp, which elevates the in-seat vegan option to a delicious Mediterranean-inspired sandwich packed with chickpeas, pickled red cabbage, cucumber, black olives and sliced red pepper. Meanwhile, a true British classic – the ploughman’s – now combines West Country mature Cheddar, piccalilli, crunchy gherkins and seasonal green leaves between slices of delicious malted wheat grain bread. British Airways supports mental health with new art project

The BA Better World Community Fund is expanding its portfolio through a new partnership with artist Alison Lapper and her The Drug of Art project, which aims to showcase the positive power of creativity on mental health. Digital content, a podcast and an exhibition (also sponsored by British Airways) will feature her work alongside artists including Rankin and Marc Quinn. Lapper will host 500 in person and virtual workshops/masterclasses across the country in schools and youth groups. Greening London’s railways with Energy Garden

A new community garden along a London Overground trackside is being created by Energy Garden with the support of the BA Better World Community Fund. Adding to an existing network of 26 gardens around the city, this new contribution aims to connect communities with nature, engaging 12,000 daily commuters and empowering youth in a training programme to tackle climate change locally.
