Six Senses

You might have to wait a while to enjoy the latest offering from master of luxury Six Senses but, trust us, it’ll be worth it. Opening in late 2021, the company’s first North American foray will be downtown Manhattan West Side’s first five-star hotel and one half of city-block sized architectural duo The XI, whose striking asymmetrical towers twist around each other. Tower X ensures unbeatable views of its arty home neighbourhood of Chelsea, as well as captivating vistas of the Hudson River and the High Line, visible from whichever of the 137 rooms over ten floors that you choose to gaze out from. The cool, modern interior, designed by Parisian firm Gilles & Boissier, will conjure laid-back vibes, while high-tech treatments at the renowned Six Senses Spa are sure to transport guests into a state of bliss.

Aman New York

Fifth Avenue has a lot going for it – the Guggenheim Museum, the Empire State Building, Central Park – and they’re all about to get a worthy companion in the shape of Aman New York, the lavish hotel group’s new urban sanctuary located in the city’s iconic Crown Building. Part hotel, part private residences, this new kid on the block offers 83 elegantly styled rooms alongside 22 sizeable apartments (all featuring working fireplaces). A breath-taking tenth-floor double-height Sky Lobby will stun entering guests, before continuing to impress them via a 2,000sqm Aman Spa (boasting a 25m indoor swimming pool), wraparound garden terrace, private cabana and fire pits. It’ll also be home to a new piano bar, wine library and subterranean jazz club. Consider it the address to be when it opens in spring 2021.
