Griffith Park Observatory never fails to impress me. It’s such a spectacular spot that I always recommend it for out-of-town guests. / I love a road trip, and travelling to Death Valley National Park is one of the most epic drives I’ve done. / I arrived at Zabriskie Point before sunrise. The real magic happened as the sun peeked over the horizon and the first rays of light began to carve out the multiple layers of rocks and mountains like a piece of cake. / Griffith Observatory’s instantly recognisable Art Deco architecture, with the hazy LA skyline in the distance.

Alabama Hills is perhaps one of the best-kept secrets in California. Driving on the infamous ‘Movie Road’ feels like being on the Moon. / Clouds reflecting on Mono Lake like a music wave. This image was shot at noon, but I also love sunrise and watching the sunlight hit the lake’s otherworldly tufa towers. / The temperature was crazy high when I took this photograph in August, so I practically had the entire Death Valley National Park to myself. / One of my favourite places on Earth is Yosemite National Park. Don’t miss the sunrise from Taft Point.

Main image: the 19th-century gold-mining town of Bodie is now a ghost town but is incredibly well preserved. You can practically close your eyes and be on the set of Back to the Future III. / The views from Four Seasons San Francisco at Embarcadero make you instantly want to start snapping photos. / It was a bittersweet moment to first spy the Golden Gate Bridge upon my arrival into San Francisco. It meant that my epic road trip was over, but I was also looking forward to world-class restaurants and pampering myself after ‘roughing it’ on the road.
