Seven reasons to get excited about American Express presents BST Festival 2024
Summertime in London always means stellar outdoor live music events and this year’s American Express presents BST Festival won’t disappoint. Here’s why it should be on your fun-in-the-sun radar
01/06/2024
1. Perfect pitch
American Express presents BST Festival is one of the most anticipated events on the live music circuit… for good reason. The line-up is always outstanding and 2024 is no different, with some of the biggest names in the industry taking to the stage between 28 June and 14 July. Into country music? You’ll love Morgan Wallen. Maybe the free-spirited songwriting of Stevie Nicks is more your thing. Or perhaps you prefer chart-topping icons Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue, K-pop sensation Stray Kids or the dulcet tones of Andrea Bocelli. Whatever your musical whim, this year’s headlining performers are fierce.
2. Added bonus
It’s not all about the headliners. The special guests and support acts joining the main performers on stage are more than worthy of a mention. While the full line-ups are yet to be announced, we do know that singer-songwriters Sampha and Snoh Aalegra will be appearing with SZA; Paolo Nutini is a special guest at the Kings of Leon gig with The Vaccines supporting; while folk pop band The Corrs will take to the stage on the same night that bill-topping Shania Twain makes her BST debut. So, not only do you get to see your musical hero, but you can also enjoy a galaxy of other established and rising stars.
3. Strings attached
If you know your adagios from your arias, your oratorios from your overtures, All Things Orchestral will strike the right note. The live classical music concert returns this year on Friday 28 June, with the highly accomplished Michael England conducting the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and special guests including celebrated violinist Esther Abrami and guitarist MILOŠ. Hosted by musician and singer Myleene Klass, it will be an evening of traditional and contemporary classical music and symphonic arrangements of rock and pop songs, film and video game scores.
4. Va-va-VIP!
You’re coming to see your favourite artists live, so why not do it in style? The VIP packages at the BST Festival will elevate your experience, whatever your budget. Depending on what you book, you could be enjoying early access to the venue, exclusive views of the main stage, a private complimentary bar and grazing stations, a dedicated on-the-day concierge, complimentary merchandise and additional restroom facilities, to name a few perks. Looking for all the bells and whistles? Add in an overnight stay at one of London’s five-star hotels, each one chosen for its proximity to the site.
5. Free and easy
While weekends are all about ticketed music events, there is plenty to see and do midweek at BST Festival’s free-entry programme, Open House, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. Aimed at the local community and beyond, there’ll be fun children’s workshops, Wimbledon screenings, outdoor cinema, street food stalls, pop-up bars, theatre, arts and crafts, and more. Last year, there was even a family rave. Now that’s rock’n’roll.
6. Green light
As well as singing along to your favourite artist or band, reducing your festival footprint is likely high on your agenda. Rest easy – as usual, the organisers of American Express presents BST Festival have put a series of sustainable and responsible measures in place. These include, amongst other things, zero waste to landfill, a ‘no single-use plastic’ policy across the site, 90 per cent vegetarian food options and ethically and sustainably sourced merch – and they’re also working with the charity Ecolibrium to balance your fossil-fuel miles to the event.
7. Bar fly
British Airways is proud to return as the event’s Official Partner, adding to the festival vibes. Visit the British Airways Bar, just opposite the Rainbow Stage, which is open to everyone and includes a silent disco as well as a glamroid photobooth. In the VIP area? The British Airways Beach House bar takes inspo from BA Lounges, offering luxe, laidback comfort overlooking the Great Oak Stage. For a midweek slice of the action, make sure to get your film fix at the British Airways Open House outdoor cinema, which will be showing free alfresco screenings of blockbusters and popular family movies.
British Airways American Express® Cardmembers will be able to enjoy additional benefits during the festival. If you’d like to find out more about what British Airways offers with American Express®, visit here.
