Hotel Riomar, Ibiza, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Set on the sweep of Santa Eulàlia Bay, this Ibizan retreat ticks every box. Loungers edge a pale turquoise pool, cabana curtains flutter in the breeze, and snacks are delivered on its sandy stretch of beach. Tune into the island’s barefoot, good-time vibes on its kilim-dotted terrace, Tribe, with its floating tipis, morning yoga classes and chilled-out Sunset Sessions. In the main building, the light-filled lobby bar channels mid-century Miami, while understated guestrooms and suites come with sea or mountain views. For a change of pace, Ibiza Town is a 20-minute drive away, with its fortress-topped old quarter and legendary vintage boutiques.

Don’t miss: The all-day Ocean Brasserie, which segues from lunchtime calamari to candlelit dinners (truffled tagliatelle, perhaps, with meringue-topped lemon tart for afters).

Domes Aulus Zante, Autograph Collection

This all-inclusive, Greek-island resort boasts a spectacular setting by a quiet, pine-backed beach and positively supports the local environment, including the nesting grounds of sea turtles, with many sustainability and conservation activities for guests. Catering to all-comers with considerable panache, its facilities run from a nature-focused kids’ club to poolside cocktail hangouts, along with an award-winning spa combining ancient Greek rituals with modern healing techniques. Elite tier suites come with access to the coveted Cool Living Room and upgraded amenities, while entry-level guestrooms are serene and earth-toned, with thoughtful extras such as Nespresso machines and pillow menus. Finally, five restaurants cater to every craving, from gyros to go at the Πita Canteen to polished small plates at Meze.

Don’t miss: Get your caffeine fix with a hands-on Greek coffee workshop or sign up for a cocktail masterclass.

JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa

Escape Venice’s crowds at this opulent resort, which occupies its own private island in the lagoon. Scope out the city’s domes and spires from the rooftop infinity pool, hit the spa and hammam, or explore its verdant gardens and rustling olive groves. Guestrooms and suites, designed by Matteo Thun, are pared back and light filled, while the larger garden residences – known as JW Retreats – come with lagoon-view plunge pools. Perfect your cicchetti at the cooking academy, or head to one of the restaurants, whose menus showcase herbs and heirloom veg grown in the JW Garden. Hankering for Venice’s galleries and gondolas? It’s 20 minutes to St Mark’s Square, aboard the resort’s shuttle service.

Don’t miss: Dinner at Agli Amici Dopolavoro, where two-starred chef Emanuele Scarello favours hyper-local ingredients, from soft-shell Venetian crabs to own-grown cherry tomatoes.

The Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta

Wraparound sea views come as standard at the Westin, thanks to its spectacular setting: a private peninsula on Malta’s northeastern coast. What was once a dragon’s lair – or so holds local legend – is now the sleekest of stays, with palm-flanked pools, suntrap lidos and a colonnaded casino, set in a 19th-century palace built by a local marquis. Head off to explore the island, or settle in with poolside caipirinhas (parents, take note: there’s an excellent kids’ club). Guestrooms run from spacious, sea-facing doubles to the new Luxury Bay Suites: coolly contemporary hideaways with two sunny terraces apiece. The five restaurants include fine-dining flagship Quadro and the charming Boathouse, which serves up tapas and Champagne on a lantern-lit, water’s-edge terrace.

Don’t miss: Scuba-diving with on-site expert Divewise, which knows every nook of the island’s reefs, wrecks and underwater caverns.
